You should be capable of taking a client brief right from the outset, - asking all the right questions, getting a deep understanding of our client, their industries, their challenges, - and converting all of that knowledge into bright, sparky and pragmatic creative ideas. We don’t want the kind of creative ideas that just look good on post-it notes. You have to be able to show that they will work, - visually, in words and in which channels; print, digital, social media, film etc. Work is varied. One day you will be coming up with a communication campaign creative concept, the next you’ll be writing a storyboard for a film or directing a photography shoot. You should enjoy the challenge of working fast and smart with experienced professionals.

You need to have creative spark, a great understanding of how the world and businesses work. You are inquisitive and you probably read loads of stuff about politics, the arts, technology, global warming and social issues. You need to have strong writing skills. An interest in the visual arts and photography is essential too. You may not be a hands-on graphic designer but you need to understand and appreciate the key principles of visual communication. Some video editing skills would be useful and you need to be completely comfortable on social media platforms and understand how digital channels can be used effectively in communication.
